Outstanding Jam, Preserve, Honey or Nut Butter
Stefan Link, spokesperson for Beth-El Food Ltd., says the secret to the company’s success with its line of preserves is simple: great fruit and a great recipe. This year’s sofi™ Gold Winner in the Outstanding Jam, Preserve, Honey or Nut Butter category is the ideal combination of the two.
Aunt Berta’s Apricot Preserves is made in Israel with 75 percent fresh apricots, as opposed to apple purée found in other brands, and is sourced from an old-time, traditional recipe. “Fruit from Israel tastes as if you are sitting under a tree eating it,” Link explains. “And the recipe comes from a 94-year-old woman who lives in the country’s German community.”
The preserves were first created for family and friends and eventually were offered at local markets in Israel before being sold all over the world, Link explains. Other products in Beth-El Food’s preserves line include flavors such as Passion Fruit, Pomegranate Delight, Fig, Mandarin, Citrus Mix, Mango, Orange and Pink Grapefruit. Beth-El Foods belongs to the Kibbutz Beth El. To go with the preserves, the company also sells several kinds of German bread and crackers made at the kibbutz bakery.
The product line is all natural, kosher parve, free of preservatives and food coloring and OU certified. —Debra Moss
