Culinary Minded Celebrities
Mark and Donnie Wahlberg are the latest in a group of famous restaurant owners.

Actor and producer Mark Wahlberg made foodie headlines recently when announcing that he and his thespian brother Donnie would expand their empire of TV-and-film celebritydom into the highly fashionable restaurant world and open a Boston burger joint called, appropriately, Wahlburgers. And to stay true to their roots, the former Marky Mark even proposed a reality show focused on the restaurant. It’s not their first foray into food: the brothers already own another eatery across the street from the future Wahlburgers called Alma Nove, and they hope to add a pizza joint to this culinary empire in the future.
The Wahlbergs are hardly the first celebrities venturing into restaurateurism. Not all star-backed restaurants survive (see Britney Spears’ Nyla), but some find their footing beyond name-dropping and can even become supremely popular, like Michael Jordan’s chain of steakhouses.
We’ve rounded up some other restaurants of note attached to famous faces that have stayed on top of the heap and are worth a visit—especially if you catch a peek at their famous owners’ occasional appearances.
