Do-Good Dressings
Condiments produced by special-needs adults.
user ratingFood needs to taste good, but it can make you feel good too. H.E. Butt Grocery Co., better known as H-E-B, a regional grocer with stores in 150 communities in Texas and Mexico, has recently begun carrying a line of salad dressings produced by adults with special needs at Brookwood Community, a not-for-profit residential community designed to provide opportunities for vocational, social, emotional and spiritual growth. The residents, all adults with functional disabilities, are mass-producing, bottling and labeling the dressings, which are available in 80 stores in central and south Texas. Varieties include Brookwood’s signature Mesibov Salad Dressing (a favorite among the guests at Brookwood’s café), Sugar Free Mesibov Dressing, Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing, Honey Lime Dressing and Roasted Garlic Salad Dressing. If you would like to find out more about the Brookwood Community or donate to their cause, you can visit brookwoodcommunity.org. —Denise Shoukas
