Move over pineapple-try mango and apple.

Salsas are hot items, both figuratively and metaphorically. But fruit-based salsas are gaining in popularity and exploding in flavor options from the expected pineapple varieties to the more uncommon mango and apple. Try Goldwater's Mohave Mango Salsa and Ruby Raspberry Salsa. Or for a versatile option, try Pastor Chucks All-Natural Apple Salsa ($4.99 - $5.50 or $22.50 for three jars. It is made from McIntosh and Jonagold from Maine and strikes a balance between sweet and savory. Not only is it a delicious new play on fruit salsa, but it means you can get the fallish taste of fresh, crisp apples in the middle of winter. It's good straight from the jar or to use as a cooking accompaniment. Here's a recipe that Waite Maclin, owner of Pastor Chucks Orchards, suggests trying with a jar of Natural Apple Salsa.
