Homemade Garam Masala

Try this Garam Masala recipe in combination with this Winter Comfort Food Recipe for Chicken Paprika Puffs. This recipe come from the kitchen of Marcia Barager of the Dalai Planet.

Ingredients:

1 bay leaf, crushed
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 green or black cardamom pods, crushed
nutmeg, to taste
crushed red pepper, to taste

Method:

Note: Cardamom has a strong, aroma and flavor, so add only a few shards of the well-crushed pod with the seeds. 

  • In a pan over low heat, dry-toast the bay leaf with the ground cloves, a few shards cardamom pods, a dash of nutmeg and crushed red pepper until slightly smoking, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine garam masala with the paprika.
