The enticing scent of cookies baking in the oven can really knit family and friends together, evoking wistful memories of what Grandma used to make. Arriving in time for the holidays are new quick-and-easy cookie mixes that offer sweet rewards with minimal elbow grease.
12. Stonewall Kitchen
Stonewall Kitchen (stonewallkitchen.com) has added four new flavors to its cookie mix lineup: Gingerbread, Chocolate Gingerbread, Chocolate Peppermint Fudge and Chocolate Peppermint Crinkle. Just add butter and eggs as directed. "Even though it's out of a box we try to make it as close to homemade as possible for people who don't have time to make cookies from scratch," says Stacy Burris from Stonewall Kitchen. "As long as you have a few staple pantry items you can whip up some of our cookies, and no one has to know."
13. Peanut Butter & Co.
Peanut Butter & Co. (ilovepeanutbutter.com), which got its start as a quirky café in New York's Greenwich Village, has added an old-fashioned cookie mix to its line of peanut butter products. All you need are butter, eggs, water and the ability to fork a criss-cross or other creative décor atop each cookie. "You have all the ingredients you need in one handy package,” says Lee Zalben, founder and president of Peanut Butter & Co. “It's a great way to get the whole family involved in creating a special and delicious holiday treat."
And making memories is what the holidays are all about. Whether you plan to have the whole family together enjoying sweets in the kitchen or want to spread joy to faraway loved ones, gorgeous, delicious holiday cookies fit right in. –Julie Besonen and Eva Meszaros
