Kitchen Table Bakers - Rosemary Parmesan Crisp
user ratingsofi Gold Winner 2010
Outstanding Cracker
“One of the nice attributes of our product is that it can fit in multiple categories,” says Seth Novick, vice president of Kitchen Table Bakers.
The Syosset, N.Y. company’s specialty crisps do more than just “fit in”—they stand out. After winning the sofi™ Gold in 2009’s Outstanding Diet and Lifestyle category, the company was the star of the Outstanding Cracker category this year, demonstrating the versatility of Kitchen Table Bakers’ products.
Introduced in 2006, Rosemary Parmesan Crisps are all natural and made of 100 percent Parmesan cheese, baked to a crisp. The cheese is aged for a minimum of ten months and chosen based on rigid specifications. The addition of rosemary gives a distinctive seasoning to the crisps that complement the baked Parmesan.
Novick recommends “going simple” with the crisps, serving them with dips such as hummus or crumbling them over a salad as a substitute for croutons. “Most people,” he adds, “just eat them as they are, instead of having cheese and crackers. You’ve got the cheese, you’ve got the crunch—add a bottle of wine or a cocktail and you’re all set.”
The Parmesan Crisps are currently available in eight flavors, including Jalapeño and Italian Herb. Kitchen Table Bakers plans to roll out more flavors in the “mini crisp” size, ideal for on-the-go snacking. —Alex Menglide
More About the Product
“The Crisp Made Entirely of Cheese” indeed uses 100 percent Parmesan cheese and nothing else as the base. As well as being wheat-, gluten-, sugar-, and trans fat-free, the crisp is rich in protein and calcium. Perfect for dips, salads, to use as a base for a canapé, or simply with a glass of wine. A review from Celiac Food Reviews stated, “Kitchen Table Bakers have created a masterpiece...It’s a bit of decadence in an otherwise beige world.” Other crisp flavors include Aged Parmesan, Sesame, Italian Herb, Garlic, Everything, Flax Seed and Jalapeno.
Suggested retail price: $5.99/3-ounce pack.
