The sofi Awards judging kicks off with more than 500 samples slated for day one.

It may be a few more months until the 39th Annual sofi Awards, taking place on July 11, but today marks the beginning of the judging—and tasting. Some exceedingly fine and discerning palates will nibble (and sip) away at more than 500 products spanning 12 categories—and that’s just today.
Three days of intense sampling and savoring lie ahead for these fearless epicures, to determine the best of the best in specialty foods, from oils (52 entries) and vinegars (26) to crackers (47) and cheeses (72!) to everyone’s favorite, cookies (55). When’s the last time you tried 55 cookies in one day?
