Matiz Gallego Berberechos
Taste a seafood delicacy harvested off the coast of Spain.
user ratingThursday, May 12, 2011
Berberechos, also known as cockles, are a member of the mollusk family, hailing from the region of Galicia in northwestern Spain. Eat this moist, tender shellfish straight from the tin, or mix with parsley and a splash of lemon for a ready-to-eat appetizer or side dish to spruce up a weeknight meal or impress unannounced guests. The wild-harvested berberechos—fished using artisan methods—have no preservatives or chemical additives; they’re free of gluten, dairy, nuts and genetically modified ingredients; and each 4-ounce can has only 82 calories. —Eva Meszaros
