New Chocolate Honors Apollo 11’s Anniversary
Edible moon rocks.
user ratingGalactic Grape, Mission Control Fig and Apollo Almond weren’t codes used during Apollo 11’s first mission to the moon 40 years ago this July 20. What they are is part of a new line of chocolates that is truly out of this world.
In honor of the upcoming anniversary of man’s first walk on the moon, Southern California chocolate company Choclatique has created Moon Rocks, a collection of dark, milk and white chocolates made to represent the samples of rocks brought back from various trips to the moon. The ‘rocks’ are shaped in multi-faceted designs to replicate the crystalline structure found in the rocks and craters on the surface of the moon, and come in bright, metallic “galactic” colors. The assortment comprises 15 flavors and retails for $30. (Purchase online www.choclatique.com.) Choclatique touts its products as “Authentically American” with premium cacao beans, which are grown on the island of Hawaii, roasted, processed and refined in Burlingame, California. The company’s packaging is made and printed in Dallas, while its specialty molds and equipment are made in Buffalo, NY.—Nicole Potenza Denis
