Outstanding Non-Food Specialty Item 2009: Wildly Delicious Fine Foods Petite Maisons’ Red Brie Baker

It took two years for Michelle Muscat and her partner Austin Muscat of Wildly Delicious Fine Foods in Toronto, Canada, to get their Petite Maisons’ Red Brie Baker just right. The color red is evocative of a French country farmhouse kitchen, explains Michelle. “We wanted it to have that heritage.”

The double-handled ceramic pot comes in a circular faux-wood box that resembles a traditional brie cheese wheel along with a lid and a bamboo spreader. “For the past five years we’ve introduced ceramic items that complement our food products and help make preparing specialty food easy,” explains Michelle. “With the brie baker you simply warm the cheese and add one of our compotes such as Pear & Ginger with Roasted Hazelnuts or the Blackcurrant & Shallot.”

Inspired by the success of the brie baker (which also comes in a cream color) Wildly Delicious has launched a blue ceramic Goat Cheese Baker. Just roll the cheese in one of the company’s herb crust mixes, such as Roasted Garlic & Thyme, and bake. Suggested retail price: $16 for the 7-inch x 3-inch-high package. wildlydelicious.com.—S.
