Get educated and slightly buzzed.

A great way to spend an afternoon in the San Francisco Bay Area is to visit the Takara Sake Museum in Berkeley, where you can discover how sake is made and then enjoy a personalized sake tasting conducted by a guide. This is where I tried the first organic sake made in the U.S. Sho Chiku Bai Organic Nama, which is unpasteurized sake, is made from organic rice from California. Served chilled, it is a tasty full-flavored sake that has a fruity and fresh taste. I’m told it would go well with sushi, shrimp cocktail and marinated vegetables.

Not only will you feel educated and slightly buzzed upon your departure, but you’ll have the opportunity to try other new items, such as the Lychee Infused Sake—delicious! --Denise Shoukas
