Pool Party food ideas
Can’t decide what to serve at your next pool party? Take a dip with the following treats, recommended by the folks at Zingerman’s Deli in Ann Arbor, Mich. From sandwiches to snacks to sticky sweet treats, make your next shindig a hit. Plus, find a rosé for any budget that will tickle your friends pink!—Nicole Denis

The Pool Party Menu

Easy appetizer:

Rick's Picks Mean Beans are pickled green beans with a little bit of heat that taste great wrapped in slices of Soppressata Abruzzese salami.

Savory snacks:

Zingerman’s Marcona Almonds are naturally sweet almonds from Spain that are salted and fried for a flavorful treat.

Simple sandwiches:

Grilled chicken and avocado, tomato and your favorite salsa on foccacia bread.

Poolside sweets:

Dos Cafeteras Coffee Candies are sweet coffee cream caramels with a rich history. These candies are cooked slow and aged for three to four months to achieve their perfect texture.

Zingerman's Candy Manufactory Peanut Brittle is made with Jumbo Runner peanuts and cooked and shaped to perfection, making for a silky consistency with a satisfying crunch.

Tickled Pink

In the past five years, rosés have emerged from a hardcore group of enthusiasts to an exploding category appealing to everyone, says Tom Geniesse, owner of Bottlerocket Wine & Spirit in New York City.  Geniesse shared with us his three favorite summer pool-party pairings, each of which is available online at bottlerocket.com.

Les Agaves Rosé 2010 ($12/bottle): A typical Provence blend that is light, refreshing and delicious for a summer barbecue.

Shinn Estate Vineyards Rosé 2010 ($15/bottle): A blend of merlot and cabernet franc, this rosé has oomph. It’s made using sustainable farming methods in the North Fork of Long Island, N.Y.

Chateau Lafon-Rochet "Lafon Roset" 2010 ($24/bottle):  From a true-blue Bordeaux house, this is only the second vintage of this beautiful, layered, delicious rosé.
