As gourmet kitchens-on-wheels have swept the nation, grocery stores are catching on. Texas chain Central Market set up the CMRoadie food truck at its Forth Worth location, right out front in the parking lot. Debuted in October, the truck serves up menu items such as Thai curry–braised pork sandwiches, chicken-and-waffle sandwiches and the Roadie Cookie, a marshmallow, peanut butter and chocolate cookie. The truck feeds hungry shoppers while memorably exhibiting ingredients found right inside the store. Avedano’s Holly Park Market in San Francisco has taken its butchered goods to the streets with the Avedano’s Meat Wagon, a former ambulance that sets up shop in the Hayes Valley Proxy space six days a week, selling fresh meat, produce, fish and even frozen stocks and bones. Elsewhere in San Francisco, Le Beau Market has a food cart in the works to serve its made-to-order deli sandwiches, which have a cult-like following among locals; the store is making plans to park at nearby late-night hotspots. —Eva Meszaros
