The Taste Group La Esquina Salsa Roja
A New York City cult favorite is now jarred and available for all.
user ratingLa Esquina, one of New York City’s hottest Mexican restaurants, comprising a taqueria, a café and a brasserie and bar, serves market-fresh Mexican food. It has a cult following for its salsa roja, a smoky ambrosia of ripe tomatoes, tart green tomatillos and hot chile arbol that’s charred and blended for an authentic taste of Mexican street cuisine. Salsa Roja is all natural and free of gluten, fat, cholesterol and sugar. Two tablespoons cost a light 10 calories. Chips and tacos wouldn’t be the same without it, but the salsa also goes great on meat, fish and vegetables.—Nicole Denis
