Today began the second part of the sofi Awards judging. Products in every food category—meal, snack, drink or dessert—get a chance to face off the for two best-in-show titles: Outstanding New Product and Outstanding Product Line. To qualify as “new” products have to have been introduced to market no more than one year ago. A product “line” must include at least six products under a certain name (but only 3 varieties get to represent the bunch to the judges.

Entries for Outstanding New Product totaled 377—that’s almost as many as the three largest categories in Part 1 combined. Total entries for Outstanding Product Line is an equally impressive 211. To put it mildly, this competition is getting fierce. So what are these specialty foods up against? Here are some stats we dug up amid the excitement.

Interestingly, these same three categories have the highest representation among the Product Line entries, just in a different order—Chocolate/Confections on top, and Snack Foods in second.
