sofi Day 3: Wish List

Part 1 of the sofi Award judging comes to a close.

The third and final day of sofi judging is coming to a close and the finalists in 31 categories are being tallied. (Two categories have yet to be evaluated. In June, our panel will take on entries in Outstanding Product Line and Outstanding New Product—two groups so huge they need a separate round of judging.)

We can’t wait to hear who the judges officially picked as sofi finalists. In the meantime, over the past three days our eyes (and noses) have been drawn to countless specialty food products (1,652 to be exact), from condiments and cookies to pastas and meats. We can’t help but be stopped in our tracks by some.

Here are some of the foods and flavors that make our wish list:

  • Andean Fire Orchid Cocktail Infusion
  • Blueberry Merlot Tea
  • Caramel Spice and Almond Rub for BrieKing Cake at the sofi Awards
  • Cherry, Blackberry, Sage and Clove
    Spreadable Fruit
  • Chesapeake Bay Crab Salsa
  • Crème Brulee Tea
  • Green Tea Vinegar
  • King Cake Ice Cream (right)
  • Maple Smoked Cheddar
  • Pineapple Horseradish Sauce
  • Rum Cake with Key Lime and Lemon
  • Saffron Oil from Spain

foodspring.com will announce the 2011 sofi finalists in the first 31 categories—ranging from Outstanding Cheese to Condiment to Chocolate—next week. Check back to learn more about some of the products that the sofi judges have selected to be among the best foods of the year.

dmngdchef Surprised not to see or hear anyone making gastriques in the industry. Or am I just missing them. You would figure the SOFI's to be a good indication of their existence. Crab salsa dies sound good though
