Raise a Glass to U.S. Soldiers
Celebrate Independence Day with a fine wine and a donation to the armed forces.
user ratingBarbecues, fireworks and a long weekend are all reasons to celebrate Fourth of July weekend. But one philanthropic group wants to remind revelers to pick up a bottle of wine and make a toast to U.S. soldiers this holiday.
Cellar Angels, a wine-enthusiast and -buying club, is donating 10 percent of its proceeds to Soldiers’ Angels, a nonprofit providing aid and comfort to U.S. soldiers and their families, including active and veteran men and women of the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard.
Partnered with Napa Valley wineries to offer high-end wines at significant discounts, Cellar Angels launched in late 2010. Offering a new deal every week, the club gives part of its earnings to partner charities, which also include The V Foundation for Cancer Research and The Sea-thos Foundation. It’s free to join, and perfect for year-round enjoyment or just to impress guests around the major holidays.
Whether you’re heading out or staying in this Fourth of July, buy a bottle, raise a glass and give back to U.S. soldiers.—Eva Meszaros
