Southern Africa is a melting pot of cultures and cuisines, spread across the countries of Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland. Namibia's food has a German legacy, while Lesotho's British heritage comes through in potato-based dishes. Throughout the region, barbecues are especially popular, as opposed to parts the continent where meat is too scare to be a main component of the diet.
