two leaves and a bud partners with NOLS

It seems like everyone is attached to a device these days, making it even more important to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. two leaves and a bud tea (www.twoleavesandabud.com) makes that a priority, not only for its employees, who are encouraged to hike and bike in the summer and ski and snowshoe in the winter in the beautiful Basalt, Colo., area, but for more than 15,000 students a year who turn to the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Through its recent partnership, two leaves and a bud is donating 1% of sales of its Alpine Berry Tea Sachet to the NOLS scholarship program.
Why NOLS?
For starters, Founder and CEO of two leaves and a bud, Richard Rosenfeld, learned many of the skills that have kept his whole leaf tea company competitive as a NOLS instructor from 1998 to 2004. Rosenfeld says, “Teaching with NOLS is an incredible privilege. I worked in the most beautiful places on the planet, with incredible teachers and students. I learned leadership lessons that I use every day in my business and personal life.” He adds, “The opportunity to support scholarship students and be able to share this with as many people as possible is incredibly important to me.” NOLS takes students ranging in age from 14 to 70 on secluded wilderness expeditions, teaching technical outdoor skills, leadership and environmental ethics in places like the Amazon rain forest and the Himalaya to Alaskan glaciers and the Arctic tundra. Sounds a heck of lot more interesting than tweeting or updating your Facebook status! In addition to expeditions, NOLS offers customized courses through NOLS Professional Training, and the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS, the leading teacher of wilderness medicine worldwide.
It’s a Perfect Brew.
"In the wild, on a NOLS course, one of the best things that your tent mate can offer you is a hot drink." Rosenfeld continues to travel the world, only now he visits tea gardens around the world to interact with farmers, taste the best they have to offer and bring it back home. The company is also devoted to supporting the Earth with its conscious packaging, like its new eco-friendly sleeves, the protective plastic covering that surrounds the company’s already biodegradable pyramid-style sachets.
