user rating
0.0 out of 5 stars(0)

Making your own dishes from scratch and wowing friends and family with the results is rewarding enough. But the following cooking competitions will tempt you with a bevy of tangible rewards—and of course, recognition—just for doing what you do best. Submit your winning creations to one of the following contests. Your signature recipe just might win you a million dollars.

Tell Us a Story.

Rodelle, maker of renowned baking essentials, is looking for people to share their best, worst or funniest baking moment for the Rodelle Challenge. Write up your memory and visit Rodelle’s Facebook page to submit it. The most creative posts with photos or videos are more likely to stand out, and everything from creativity to sentimentality will be taken into consideration. The top three entries will receive a KitchenAid Mixer and a yearlong supply of Rodelle baking essentials: vanilla beans, baking cocoa, pure vanilla extract, almond/lemon/anise extracts and vanilla sugar. Deadline is December 25, 2011. For more details, visit rodellekitchen.com.

Is Your Homemade
Sauce Worth $1 Million?

Dave’s Gourmet produces award-winning sauces that sell by the millions every year. Now the sauce pro is looking to home chefs and food professionals for the next great sauce. Founder Dave Hirschkop’s inspiration behind the contest: “Now, I wasn’t anyone special when I started my restaurant and then moved into manufacturing sauces. I’m just like everyone else and that’s why I know that somewhere out there, someone just like me is standing in their kitchen stirring a sauce that could very well be the best one in America. So, I’m going to find out where it is.” Dave’s Gourmet Recipe Challenge carries a grand prize of up to $1 million in sales royalties; finalists will win a gift pack, and there’s even a referral prize if you pitch the amazing sauce that your mother/brother/neighbor/best friend makes. Deadline is December 31, 2011. For more details, visit davesgourmet.com.

Sweet Victory Challenge

King Arthur Flour Company sponsors baking competitions at state and county fairs around the country, which you can find here, but in 2012 the company is revisiting its annual King Arthur’s Sweet Victory Challenge. Leading up to the National Maple Syrup Festival in March, home cooks can submit their best recipe that features, of course, maple syrup. Check in at kingarthurflour.com to see when the contest will be open to submissions. In the meantime, find inspiration in this year's winning recipes, which include The Ultimate Maple Cheeseburger, Marvelous Maple Scallop-Bacon Puffs and Tuscan Maple Tarragon Chicken.—Denise Shoukas
