Where's Your Milk From?
A new site makes it easy and fun to find out.
user ratingAs we all become more in tune with where our food originates, we’re turning to dairy products with an inquisitive eye. Whereismymilkfrom.com makes the sleuthing easy and even fun. You simply type in a numeric code that you’ll find on the side of your dairy item and a map and name of the exact location and farm where your milk comes from pops up. I typed in the code on My Nature’s Promise Organic Reduced Fat Milk and found out the milk came from Aurora Organic Dairy in Platteville, Colorado, a farm that sells raw, low-fat and ultra-pasteurized milk. This site makes it possible to make informed decisions. For example, although I only buy organic milk, I’d prefer to support local farmers as much as possible. So I may think twice about my purchase next time.
The site isn’t limited to milk. It provides data on products such as cottage cheese, yogurt, whey, eggnog, goat’s milk products and ice cream too. —Denise Shoukas
