Will and Kate Say "Cheese"
The royal newlyweds get immortalized in edible art.
user ratingAs the celebration of William and Kate’s royal nuptials carried through the weekend, so did the work of renowned cheese carver Sarah Kaufmann. The so-called “Cheese Lady,” famed for her meticulously whittled cheese sculptures, has revealed her latest work featuring the royal newlyweds. Using a mammoth wheel of golden cheddar that looks to be over two feet in diameter, Kaufmann carved a portrait of the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge—with Kate holding a block of Wisconsin cheese, of course.
Will and Kate join the ranks of other famous faces Kaufmann has immortalized in edible art (at least until it gets eaten). Other cheese-carved celebrities include Tom Cruise, Rosie O’Donnell and Paul Newman; she even carved a sculpture live on ESPN before Super Bowl this year. The sculpting of the royal couple took place at Central Market in Houston, Texas, where shoppers got to view the carving in progress and enjoy some cheese samples surely fit for a king. —Eva Meszaros
