Track Food Truck Reviews, Ratings and Locations
Zagat launches a website for mobile vendors.
user ratingFinding your favorite food truck is getting easier with apps that help you in your search using GPS technology. A new free website called foodtrucks.zagat.com, brought to you by the publishers of Zagat Surveys, helps you do that, plus keep up with truck ratings and reviews.
Zagat, best known for its slender books and website listings, rates and reviews restaurants, hotels, nightlife, movies, music, golf, shopping and a range of other entertainment categories. In its newest venture, it visually plots the real-time locations of New York's most notable food trucks on a map. Trucks will also be able to make their whereabouts known by tweeting their location to @ZagatTrucks, which automatically updates the app.
While there's no dedicated mobile app for this service yet, you can follow the action on their mobile browsers. You can even delve in deeper by cyberstalking your favorite food trucks by location, cuisine and Zagat food rating. Once you've chosen a food truck, the site will indicate its location, social media links (Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter), as well as its Zagat ratings and reviews. The site also hosts a food truck survey where users are encouraged to rate and review the trucks that they have tried in the past year. So far, Zagat's top-rated food trucks are sweets-centric, including Wafels & Dinges, Street Sweets and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.—Denise Shoukas
